“Bullies bully Thrillers for LeBronze Division Championship”

Bullies vs. Thrillers
LEBRONZE DIVISION

The result: Thrillers defeated Bullies back on Week 1 and Bullies has been on fire ever since. Both teams entered Week 8, Championship Game, with a lot of momentum as both Thrillers and Bullies sported a 6-1 record. In the end, the high school talent for Bullies was too much as Thrillers fall to Bullies, 64-55.

Terrence Drisdom sat out most of his high school season (Roosevelt H.S.) with injury and needed to get his timing back before playing for Cal Poly Pomona. Drisdom has been unstoppable in Lebronze and he led all players with 23 points, knocking down all 8 free throw attempts. Dominique Odums (Roosevelt H.S.) scored 15 while PG Nate Primous JR scored 14 points, 4 three-pointers.

Bobby Estrada scored 14 points for Thrillers while Mark Barron led the team with 16 points. Barron left the game after separating his shoulder in the 2nd half. Eddie Ortiz scored 11 points and led Thrillers with 3 three pointers. Thrillers won the assists category, 14-7 and grabbed 8 steals compared to Bullies’ 3.

What’s in a Name: Bullies bullied their opponents and many LeBronze Division teams would argue that Uno Dos aka Commish Hanz Jimenez did LeBronze dirty by picking up several high school players from Roosevelt High School. Was it a coincidence that the Championship Game was held at Roosevelt as well?

League Commish released this statement: “We couldn’t get Irwindale this week so we had to settle for Roosevelt this week. They were the only venue with 2 courts and they were the only venue willing to let us use the court before 5 p.m. (NBA Finals). Terrence Drisdom was hurt all season and Dominique Odums sat on the bench and didn’t even get to play last season. If you ask me, I did the same thing Game Bang-Lights Out did last Summer…what’s wrong with picking up high school players?”

Likely to Win Accolades:
Bullies Terrence Drisdom was named Finals MVP while Mark Barron was named Regular Season MVP for LeBronze Division.

Flava 4 Life vs. Relics
DIAMOND DIVISION

The result: Flava 4 Life finished the season with a perfect record by beating their toughest opponent of the season, former Platinum Division Chamions, Relics. Flava 4 Life, the Platinum Division defending Champions, locked down the division’s leading scorer, Cisco Acevado, limiting him to just 9 points. Flava 4 Life enters the Playoffs with the #1 seed by beating Relics, 61-52.

Rookie Bobby Kovach led Relics with a team-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. Sharp-shooter Gary Beaird finished with 8 points while leading scorer Cisco Acevado was limited to just 9 points. They were out-rebounded, 29-19, and once again allowed Flava / Flava-4-Life to come back and steal a victory.

Late in the game, Flava 4 Life G Mike Jenkins hit connected for 5 straight points to give Flave 4 Life the lead for good. The team came back from a 34-29 halftime deficit and the game was close the rest of the 2nd half. Cory Ortiz was the second leading scorer with a dozen points while Jamaal Hall scored 8 points. GM Mario Thompson led the team with 3 steals and he finished with 3 points.

What’s in a Name: Relics – something cherished for its age of historic interest.

Relics have stood the test of time and they continue to rank on top of the division, season after season. Andrew Knox, the team’s GM, has been durable and has proven himself as a worthy GM in replacement of founder Ernest Pablo. What continues to haunt them is that other franchise, Flava / Flava 4 Life. Any time GM Mario Thompson applies a full court press, it seems like Relics can’t handle the pressure and without the ball-handling skills of Terrence Martin, they’re doomed for failure. Is there any way they can neutralize the ageless wonder, Mario Thompson?

Likely to Win Accolades:
Flava 4 Life finished with a perfect 8-0 season which means GM Mario Thompson will be named GM of the Season. The MVP award will come from Flava 4 Life but which player deserves it? Kenneth Ubom wasn’t in attendance and it was Finals MVP Dwayne Gaines that led the team with 19 points and 8 rebounds.

Momentum for Playoffs: Relics played without www.superstarbasketball.org cover boy, Terrence Martin. Without him, Relics struggle to beat the best teams and arguably, Martin is their x-factor. Many say both Flava 4 Life and Relics will meet again, two weeks from now in the Finals. Will it be a repeat of last Championship Weekend, a weekend dominated by both Warriors-Relics and Flava-Flava-4-Life?

-_- vs. Bullets
GOLD DIVISION

The result: Entering the final week of the season, PG Jordan Ramos led all players in the assists category (Gold Division) with 45 assists. After logging 7 assists against Upper Hand, all Jordan had to do was pass for 22 assists to tie the record. Would he do it?

Bullets F Jose Perez stole the spotlight scoring 27 points in the 1st half for Bullets. It was tough that former LeBronze Division Champions Bullets were only playing with 4 players on Week 8 but with every step back one-leg jumper was a Jose Perez bucket. They were miffed that -_- was padding their stats and GM Daniel Donato was persistent in trying to get DQ’d.

”So we have 4 players, how many fouls do I have,” asked Donato, jokingly. “If I foul out the game stops, no?”

Donato quickly fouled and heard a chorus of boos from the -_- players. Donato finished with 2 assists while Perez led the way with 52 points, 6 three-pointers. Alex Sanchez led the team with 10 rebounds and logged 8 points.

Five players tallied double figures for -_- as AJ Baylon led the team with 36 points and 10 three-pointers. Kevin Chow scored 28 points and grabbed 8 rebounds while C Chaz led the team with 18 rebounds and 4 blocks. The story of the game was Jordan Ramos who finished with 22 assists and 6 rebounds after barely playing the 1st half.

What’s in a Name: Dash-Underscore-Dash or -_- finished their second season with a 5-3 record. They’re most effective on the open court and All Star Jordan Ramos will find anyone for an easy bucket. His unselfishness has never been obvious when he reluctantly went for the record and it wasn’t until his teammates encouraged him to go for it that he finally went for it.

”I’m not here to pad my stats, I don’t care about it,” said Ramos.

Likely to Win Accolades:
Since Ramos doesn’t want stats or accolades, we’ll just exempt him from nomination. Jokes aside, he’s a front-runner for MVP again. I guess we’ll find out Saturday when the league announces the End of the Season Awards.

Momentum for Playoffs: -_- finished last season with momentum but only showed up with 4 players to start their Playoff game against Wedashitudaflys. Simply put, they need to show up with a full roster especially if they’re trying to avoid last season’s anti-climatic loss in the 1st Round.

Trinicousins vs. Got Em
GOLD DIVISION

The result: Got Em jumped to a 40-26 halftime lead and Trinicousins tried to rally on two different occasions. With Trinicousins using a 13-0 run (52-60) to cut the deficit to 8, Got Em survived with a 72-65 win as they finish the season with a 5-3 record.

Got Em GM Kevin Valmonte finished with 17 points and 5 rebounds while Hector McCain finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds. All Star Rahsaan Reyes scored a game-high 25 points while seldom use SG Rodney Ching scored 8 points.

Chris Capinia led Trinicousins with 25 points and 5 assists while Center DJ Gabriel blocked a team-high 2 shots. Charles Trinidad scored a dozen points while Ryan Basco finished as the second leading scorer with 14 points.

What’s in a Name: In LeBronze Division, Kevin Valmonte was limited with personnel decisions last season when Lights Out faced Trinicousins in LeBronze Division. Humbled by the loss, he was looking forward to facing Trinicousins but this time in Gold Division against his own team. Eight weeks later after Trinicousins ended Lights Out’s Championship hopes, GM Kevin Valmonte can finally say he got ‘em.

”I always like playing Trinicousins, they’re crowd is awesome,” said Valmonte. “But we won today, so yah… got em!”

Likely to Win Accolades:
Rahsaan Reyes will always be an MVP candidate no matter what team he plays for while GM Michael Santa Maria is always in the running for GM of the Season. Four seasons later, Trinicousins continue to have the best crowd support and for that, we thank you.

Momentum for Playoffs: Despite losing to Lakers last week (played with just 4 players), Got Em is on a roll and they have one of the best back court duos in the division. With only one ball to go around, many were wondering if the duo of Reyes and Valmonte can share the rock. It seems like the two are taking turns taking over games and when Valmonte doesn’t have it going, Reyes usually does.

Brand Nu vs. Game Bang
LEBRONZE DIVISION

The result: Former Finals MVP Jeri De Leon was on fire hitting 5 three-pointers and a game-high 25 points. Brand Nu GM Jeff Jumarang took over and displayed his all around skills logging a near triple-double, 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists. Brand Nu earned bragging rights over some of their former teammates in Game Bang, 62-55.

Brand Nu jumped to a 17-10 lead in 5 minutes and piled up the score, 36-23 at halftime. Chris Ayo scored 13 points and 5 rebounds while Darrell Mendoza logged 11 points and 4 assists. Mendoza struggled with several air balls and missed a wide open layup as former teammate Jeri De Leon had his number.

De Leon was knocking down shots at will and he led the former LeBronze Division Champs with 3 steals. Oliver Santiago logged 15 points, 3 steals and had a highlight emphatic block that had Brand Nu fans laughing.

”Man, he f___ the sh__ on that one,” said a fan. (fill in the blanks)

What’s in a Name: Brand Nu has a brand new name for the Summer 2010 Season, Mint Condition. I guess Jeff Jumarang has been listening to a lot of 90’s slow jams as of late.

Likely to Win Accolades:
Jeri De Leon for MVP? Jeff Jumarang for Most Improved Player… we’ll see on Saturday.
