Welcome to the Season Finale of Season 17, Enter the Hall.

This weekend is the last weekend of the summer and teams will wrap up the Regular Season of Season 17 at Walnut Rec. It’s been an eventful Summer – from SSBL Hall of Fame Squad holding it down at Nike’s 3-on-3 Tournament, to Flava 4 Life’s historic 14 game winning streak, our new Co-ed Division to Dipset’s pursuit of their first LeBronze Division Championship. The season has been unforgettable to say the least and players have one last chance to sway voters for End of the Season Awards.

“LeBronze Division Finals”

A*Team vs. Dipset
LEBRONZE DIVISION
By: Hanz Jimenez

Why Should I Watch this Match-up: A*Team could win their 3rd LeBronze Division title while Dipset, looking for their first LeBronze Division title, could finish this season with a perfect 8-0 record.

Who are the Candidates for End of The Season Awards: With all due respect, we don’t think anyone from either squad is looking to win any individual awards and both teams want to win it all. Both teams can shoot but the experience factor heavily favors A*Team just because they’ve win it all (twice). A*Team is 6-1 and they are led by injured star, Justin Ondoy, and he is averaging 13.0 ppg, 2.3 apg. GM Matt Stein leads the team with 6.9 ppg, 4.6 apg while Chris Towner is averaging 8.6 ppg, 1.3 apg. With their backs against the wall on Week 7 against Lights Out, they found a way to win without Ondoy and arguably their fastest player, Yoshi Wickremetunge (11.2 ppg, 2.2 apg).

A*Team has made a habit of winning the title and throwing the following season in Gold Division just so they can drop down to win it all again in LeBronze Division.

Jim Nguyen leads all players in LeBronze Division with 14 blocks and he is averaging 9.3 ppg, 4.2 apg. Ryan Mercaco is averaging a team-high 11.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg while sharp shooter Sajid Minhas leads the team with 16 three-pointers. Dipset’s memorable season has been caught on video for the most part of the season thanks to Matt “Today Show” Lauer (5.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg) and his video staff. At times, sharp-shooter Matt Frock (9.4 ppg, 9 three-pointers) has struggled with his shot this season but he’s found ways to be effective by grabbing boards or solid defense. We know someone’s been watching the Lakers Championship DVD and it looks like Frock has taken a page out of Kobe Bryant’s Game 7 resourcefulness.

Prediction: Dipset, Lights Out, and Thrillers were all expected to win the LeBronze Division Championship but only Dipset made it out to Week 8 with an unblemished record. A*Team, overlooked this season, had a tough schedule and still found a way to keep their Championship hopes alive with a 6-1 record. They’ll switch roles in this particular game and A*Team is the clear cut favorite to beat Dipset. How will the team cope with the role change? Will A*Team get too comfortable in the Championship Game as the favorites?

Bullets vs. -_-
GOLD DIVISION
By: Hanz Jimenez

Why Should I Watch this Match-up: Last season, everyone had a field day against former LeBronze Division Champions, Bullets. BK Agu recorded the first quadruple double in Superstar Basketball history and former MVP Jordan Ramos tied the assists total (season) by dishing out a career-high 22 assists on Bullets (Spring 2010, Week).

This season has been quite a turnaround for GM of the Season candidate, Daniel Donato. The Reigning MVP, David Munoz, is a favorite to repeat as MVP and he is averaging 18.0 ppg, 4.9 apg, 2.1 spg. Donato may be quiet on the sidelines but he allows his team to give up and his calm demeanor is one of the team’s strongest quality. Franchise player, Jose Perez, is averaging 11.6 ppg, 2.1 apg while C Eddie Sandoval is averaging 15.3 ppg, 7.7 rpg. Like their rivals in Outlawz, the team plays as a unit and it’s to stop just one person in the team.

-_- has been overlooked for much of the season but they now have 4 players who are averaging double figures in scoring. GM Jordan Ramos is averaging 15.6 ppg and a league-high 7.7 apg. Kevin Chow is averaging 10.3 ppg while Center Daniel Torres is injury-free and is averaging 12.0 ppg, 7.2 rpg. Former All Star SG AJ Baylon has seen his numbers drop to 14.7 ppg only because he’s looking to involve his teammates more and that should pay off in the Playoffs.

Who are the Candidates for End of The Season Awards: Jordan Ramos and David Munoz are once again MVP candidates. Daniel Donato is a strong candidate for GM of the Season but he may lose out to his rival team Outlawz, should Outlawz complete a perfect season. It’s unspoken but any time a team finishes with a perfect record, they almost automatically win both GM of the Season and MVP awards.

Prediction: This is about REVENGE and Bullets should get the job done. It’s rare for teams to get 2 records set against them on 1 weekend but that happened against Bullets on Week 8. Everyone laughed at them and called them the new Screwed Up Click but Bullets refused to give up and they are now #2 in Gold Division. At a time when LeBron James is backing down from challenges, at a time when players are avoiding playing in Diamond Division, Bullets deserve a lot of credit for their resilience and turning it around in just one season.

Trinicousins vs. Spam Musubi
CO-ED DIVISION
By: Hanz Jimenez

Why Should I Watch this Match-up: You shouldn’t. Trinicousins didn’t want this match-up and the team is having to face Spam Musubi for the 3rd time this season. The schedule was perfect last week but numerous schedule requests on Saturday night had the League Commissioner cancelling Spam Musubi vs. Winona Ryder last week. WR couldn’t play this week and Bomba Stars is stuck with just 7 games this season. WTF finished out their season and so we’re stuck with this match-up.

A recap from their most recent match-up on Week 7, Spam Musubi beats Trinicousins, 58-52.

Who are the Candidates for End of The Season Awards: Cholo Espinosa has done a remarkable job as a GM and the fans continue to come out to rock the joint every Sunday. Chris Capinia comes off the bench averaging 15.3 ppg (4 games) but he needs at least 6 games to qualify for MVP. Samantha Cardeno has carried the team for most of the season and the former Women’s Division MVP is averaging 14.7 ppg, 1.3 apg. She also leads the team with 19 three-pointers.

On the opposite end, Kevin Valmonte could qualify as an MVP candidate should he play the last 2 games of the season. You already know league analysts want to see him as the first MVP of the Co-ed Division just so they can give him a hard time about it week after week. With numbers like 22.3 ppg, 14 three-pointers and 2.0 spg, you already know he’ll be a lock for MVP.

“He’s gonna complain about the MVP title for Co-Ed, you already know it,” said league analyst Harry Yoo.

“Aye, he asked for it by playing like it was Diamond Division all season, let’s just give it to him,” said another league analyst not named Hanz Jimenez.

“He’s gonna bring up T-bone’s numbers,” added Yoo.

“Yoo are right, Harry,” added the league analyst. “Well if LFF wins, they’ll automatically get the MVP, so we’ll see…”

Prediction: It’s Co-ed Division, who cares. Don’t think for a minute Spam Musubi is taking the weekend off because they ACTUALLY want to win Co-ed Division. Their superstar in Terrence Martin likes to break ankles even if the unsuspecting victim is a bum. Co-ed is just another title and he’ll be more than willing to take it.

LFF vs. Spam Musubi
CO-ED DIVISION
By: Hanz Jimenez

Why Should I Watch this Match-up: Okay, so it was Co-Ed but the previous match-up between the two was a classic and it was one of the most exciting games this past summer.

The box score showed 106-104 but what the scoreboard at Walnut Rec failed to show was the 3 OT periods needed for the game to find a winner in this grueling Co-Ed Division match-up. Terrence Martin scored 50 points and knocked down 10 three-pointers to lead Spam Musubi. The game should have been decided in Regulation but his 3-pointer with the clock winding down made it

Who are the Candidates for End of The Season Awards: If LFF finishes the season with a perfect record, expect Omar Alameddine to win GM of the Season.

Prediction: Either team could have won this match-up and it was Spam Musubi that won the tip-off in 3OT. Rodney Ching, arguably one of the best 3-point shooters in the league, foolishly drove the lane while Hall of Famer Andrew Knox defended him. If the game comes down to one last shot, expect Ching to look for a 3-pointer this time around or look for Terrence Martin to deliver.

Shottas vs. Got Em
PLATINUM DIVISION
By: Hanz Jimenez

Why Should I Watch this Match-up: This is more than just Playoff seedings. Shottas is 3-4 while Gottem is 4-3. This is all about revenge as Shottas faces off against the team they played for earlier in the season, Gottem.

"They thought they could branch away from our team and start winning," said a Gottem player. "They're in the Playoffs...but then again everyone makes the Playoffs in Platinum."

Shottas Rookie Aaron Arango has had a stellar season and he's earned 3 Player of the Wee honors this season. On the opposite end, Jordan Ramos and Josh Campos have been a solid 1-2 punch for Gottem. Attendance will be an issue and GM Troy Belcher feels like his team hasn't been the same after losing to a 4 man Flava 4 Life squad on Week 6. Will a full squad show up for Shottas?

Who are the Candidates for End of The Season: Aaron Arango for MVP?

Prediction: Shottas should get revenge on Gottem.
