PLAYOFF RECAP
GOLD DIVISION
1st Round
(7) Kings of Krunk vs. (10) Premier
RECAP
Without GM Ryan Rulloda running the team, would Kings of Krunk hold off Premier.
The Chino Hills team won 5 straight games to end the season and their big win
over Hoop Tribe on Week 8 showed how ready they were for the Playoffs.
The team struggled early in the contest trailing 29-22 at halftime. GM Desmond
Ann got his team going in the second half and Premier responded with a 9-0 run.
Kings of Krunk had nearly 3 players foul out – Jeff Koga (8 points), Lucky
Wickremetunge (15 points), and Glen Penny (6 points). Premier was 11-for-20 from
the line while Kings of Krunk shot 22-for-25.
”The game turned out to be a free throw contest and luckily for Premier,
they walked away with the win,” said a league analyst. “They missed 9 free throw
attempts while KOK missed just 3, they could have easily lost due to missed free
throws.”
Desmond Ann scored 11 points while Josh Garza led the team with 16 points. James
Foreman, one of the team’s best defenders, grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and 3
steals. The team combined for 10 assists with Garza leading the team with 3
assists.
Just how overly-aggressive was Kings of Krunk? Glen Penny had 4 fouls in the 1st
half. Sam Yeung finished with 20 points and 4 rebounds while Lucky Wickremetunge
scored 15 points and 4 rebounds. Terrence Taylor led the team with 7 rebounds.
FINAL SCORE: 55-49, Premier
PREVIEW
When Kings of Krunk entered the league, outspoken GM Ryan Rulloda made a few
heads turn when he came in as one of the more vocal GMs in the league. Two
nights before Kings of Krunk and n00bs faced each other, Rulloda ran into
several n00bs players at the club and proclaimed Kings of Krunk would easily
advance past the n00bs in the 1st Round. The result was a 56-42 win
in favor of n00bs and Rulloda had to swallow his words.
”He was drunk talking, saying they were gonna dunk all over us and take us out
of the Playoffs,” explained Jim Nguyen. “We played real hard, hopefully he
learned his lesson.”
Two seasons later, the two meet again in the 1st Round of the
Playoffs. How much has Rulloda learned since then? Word on the street is Rulloda
isn’t even in town and he booked a flight to New York just to get away from
Premier. Can his team carry the load without him? The team hasn’t logged any
convincing wins since “New Mexico” Jonathan Gibson left. Who will pick up the
slack for Kings of Krunk this weekend?
