The Show vs. Relics
PLATINUM DIVISION
The two-time defending Champions ended their season on a sour note as Relics lose a must-win to The Show, 92-90.
After a 0-2 start, Relics recovered from their lackluster start by picking up players from Diamond Division team, Warriors. The favorite to repeat this season, Relics were upset on Week 7 by nWo and against #1 team, The Show in their Season Finale. The team played with just 4 players as Hall of Famer Andrew Knox finished with 36 points, 15 rebounds, and 3 steals. "C-Note" Cisco Acevado scored 28 points and 6 assists while Most Improved Player of the Season candidate, Brandon Cleamons, added 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Former GM Ahron Knox finished with 4 steals as the team combined for 11 steals. With a chance to tie the ball game, Andrew Knox missed a game tying basket as The Show eliminate Relics on Week 8.
Several costly mistakes for the Relics this season:
- For whatever reason, Andrew Knox waived off the technical fouls (jerseys) and chose not to choose 6 free throws.
- Relics started the season with a 0-2 record without a set roster.
- Instead of taking care of business against nWo on Week 7, Sean Harris and Robbie Banks decided to walk out for lunch and when they came back, they were surprised to see nWo with a narrow lead. They went on to lose the contest.
- Only 14 players were on the roster, a 15th name was left off and that roster spot should have went to specialist James Acevado. Acevado made his return with the Warriors hitting 8 three-pointers in the last game of the season.
- Only 4 players show up in a must-win contest against the #1 team, The Show? Really? When you're a Champion, you gotta have the drive to win it all. Relics didn't even make the drive to Riverside playing with just 4 players.
- They allowed The Show to go on a 11-0 run in the last 4 minutes of the contest. Championship teams play defense and allowing a 11-0 won't cut it.
The Show was led by Lasalle Thomas who finished with a team-high 29 points and 14 rebounds while Allen Brown added 24 points and 6 assists. Former Relics franchise player Alphonso White finished with 17 points and 4 rebounds while Omar Alameddine added 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. All four players had either played for Relics at one point or were former teammates in the Diamond Division (Young Gunnaz). No team in Superstar has yet to accomplish a 3-peat.
The Show vs. Screwed Up Click
PLATINUM DIVISION
In an effortless match-up, The Show defeated Screwed Up Click, 63-56.
"We know we were late but if they really are the #1 team, they would prove it on the court," said Screwed Up Click later in the day. "They wanted their points, they wanted the time off the scoreboard, and truth be told, they were afraid of our team."
Osh Dabbas finished with 28 points and 15 rebounds while Amos Battle added 16 points and 6 boards. Paul Marshall finished with 8 points and 6 rebounds while Melvin Gilliard added 4 points and 4 rebounds. Screwed Up Click needed two wins to qualify for the Playoffs and if GM Eddie Silva was trying to look for something positive this season, well... Screwed Up Click was 10 points away from the Playoffs. They lost by a point to nWo and by 7 to #1 team, The Show.
Omar Alameddine and Alphon-show White led The Show with 11 points. Ronnie Johnson finished with 4 points while Allen Brown added 3 points. After handing Relics their 4th loss of the season, Lasalle Thomas opted not to play against Screwed Up Click.
Pay Homage vs. Association
PLATINUM DIVISION
The friendly trash talk between Pay Homage and Kenneth Ubom fueled Hall of Famer Kenneth Ubom as he went off for 41 points in the 54-45 win.
"I don't know why you're talking, you're there on the sidelines," said Ubom.
"You're the one holding your sides right about now," responded Pay Homage defender Brandon Thomas. Thomas led Pay Homage with 10 rebounds and 5 points while Kenneth Ubom finished with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Ubom caught an in adverted elbow to the rib early in the 1st quarter and felt the effects of Thomas' elbow two minutes after the initial contact.
"That's that voodoo foul," added Thomas on the sidelines.
At this point of the season, Pay Homage is aware that they need a point guard to distribute the ball and they have already registered for next season. The team's defense and command on the boards is overshadowed by their lack of offense and the team has a rep of missing too many easy lay-ups. Jeremy Jackson and Amir Blackmon both finished with 11 points apiece while GM Nathan Carter finished with 2 points.
Association GM BK Agu finished with 9 points and 3 assists while Efehi Ogbebor added 4 points and 2 rebounds. All 3 players from Premier combined for 11 rebounds and 0 points.
Buckets vs. nWo
PLATINUM DIVISION
"So you show up for this one, but you don't show up against Kenneth Ubom?" asked Harry Yoo to his former teammate, Terrence Martin.
The All League MVP finished with a game-high 33 points and 6 three-pointers as Buckets beat nWo, 73-56. Walter Tamidles finished with 16 points, 4 three-pointers and 4 assists while GM Jonathan Wynn added 9 points and 3 steals. Buckets led the entire way and the game was never close.
"Let's just make sure we save our energy for the next game against Screwed Up Click," said an nWo player in their last time out.
nWo started the game on a 10-5 run but fatigue played a huge factor late in the 1st half. Alex "Bear" Ivezaj added 24 points and 10 rebounds while Kevin Valmonte finished with 19 points and 8 boards. Omar Caro logged 10 points and 3 assists.
nWo will face The Show this Sunday in the Playoffs while Buckets prepares for Association.
