“Rookie Wall”

Adoboys vs. Outlawz
GOLD DIVISION

With last week’s loss fresh on their minds, Adoboys had only one thing on their minds and that was to give 7-0 Outlawz team their first and only loss of the season. They knew the stake was high but a win would give rookie Center Matt Dickinson a huge chance at winning the Rookie of the Season award. Dickinson scored 12 points in the 1st half as Adoboys held off a late Outlawz rally with a 72-61 win.

You could feel the momentum change late in the 2nd half as Adoboys led 68-56 at the 4:00 mark. Outlawz were getting ready to make one last run but Adoboys would answer by playing hard-nosed defense and Dickinson was at the center of it all. The last game of his rookie season saw Dickinson with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks and Dickinson said he played like a pro. (Superstar Radio, Week 8)

League officials leaked out on Sunday night that Dickinson had indeed won the Rookie of the Season award while Outlawz GM Fernando Ruiz won GM of the Season award. Fernando Ruiz finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds while George Parrales finished with 20 points and 3 steals. Parrales is being considered for Defensive Player of the Season and his peers feel he is one of the toughest defenders in the division.

“I really hate playing against that guy,” said a previous opponent. “They’re fast but that Parrales guy, he can lock anyone down.”

Adoboys combined for 15 assists and 6 three-pointers as GM Justin Antonio led the way with 5 three-pointers and 17 points. Alvin Chung showed up late but led the team on a 11-0 run to take the lead in the 2nd half. Chung logged 8 assists and 3 steals while Herman Hale finished with 13 points and 4 rebounds. The newly-turned daddy is expecting to see his numbers dip but in their season finale, he was the team’s 3rd scoring leader.

Trinicousins vs. Wedashitudaflys
GOLD DIVISION

“Uh oh, looks like there’s only half of them now,” said an observant Ryan Rulloda.

He was referring to the Trinicousins loyal fan base and the seats are looking half empty these days. We’re not hearing “boom-tarat-tarat” anymore, much like we can’t watch “Wowowee” on TFC any longer. Are they staying at home to watch…football? Are there Manny Pacquiao fights we don’t know about because suddenly, Trinicousins can’t find a way to win ball games.

Trinicousins struggled to score just 9 points in the 1st half and a lot of credit has to go to Weda’ huge front line. Alex “Bear” Ivezaj finished with 19 points and 9 rebounds while Center Rene Medina added 9 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks. JJ Collado added 7 points while Harry Yoo credits his defense to stopping Trinicousins.

“I had to shadow Ryan Basco just to make sure he doesn’t score,” said Yoo, post game.

Chris Capinia scored 9 points in a row as he took over for Trinicousins late in the 2nd half. Capinia finished with 13 points and 3 assists while Ryan Basco added 7 points and 2 steals. Center DJ Gabriel finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds while Rookie of the Season candidate Brian Guevarra added 6 rebounds. Trinicousins played without key player in Charles Trinidad (ankle injury) and they had to endure the loss of Franco Espinosa late in the 2nd half.

Blitzburgh vs. Justice League
GOLD DIVISION

This game was close in the 1st half (17-17) but Blitzburgh made adjustments and Blitzburgh ran away with their 6th win of the season, 111-78.

MVP Candidate Mike Epps finished with a double-double 30 points and 20 rebounds while All Star PG Chris Epps finished with 23 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Epps celebrated his birthday with a huge win and is overly excited for the Playoffs.

“Is standings final?” texted Epps early on Monday afternoon.

Rookie of the Season candidate Quincy Jones finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds while Center Janel Wilson added 6 points and 10 rebounds. The team dominated the glass, 62-16, the largest discrepancy in the rebounding department all season.

Rookie Joselito Victorino finished with a game-high 40 points and 6 three-pointers. GM Leomar Cachola added 15 points and 5 assists while Paulo Montoya finished as the third leading scorer with 12 points and 2 three-pointers. Joselito has had a strong showing as a rookie and he is expected to represent Justice League in this season’s All Star Game in two weeks.

Boss Players vs. The Rock
GOLD DIVISION

All 5 Gold Division games played on Week 8 had a lot of playoff intensity but it was The Rock vs. Boss Players that seemed like it was already September 26. Both teams went at it early on and the sloppy play was the result of an intense game. The Rock didn’t grab the lead until the 6:02 mark in the 1st half but it was The Rock that ran away with a 73-51 lead.

“The game was closer than what the box score showed and late in the 2nd half, Boss Players looked like they just gave up,” said a league analyst.

Uzoma Kalu finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds while GM Jason Fielder finished with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Jonathan Spaniol, traded from the Bullies, finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Danny Medina finished with 3 points and 3 rebounds. The team settled for long jumpers instead of setting up their bigs and GM Fielder was speechless.

“We have the biggest front line in Gold we should be setting up our bigs,” said Fielder. “We’ll be ready in the Playoffs, we just gotta talk things over.”

Kenny Jackson (25 points, 7 three’s, 5 assists) and Jamal Jones took over in the 2nd half as Jones finished with a game-high 31 points and 6 rebounds. The former Semi Pro Inc role players have been huge in The Rock’s turnaround and The Rock have now won 5 straight. Chris Ashanti finished with 5 points while Donte Robinson led the team with 2 blocks. Needing to score 10 plus points to beat rival Janel Wilson, GM Benjamin Sin settled for 0 points.

Team Kellz vs. Run N Gun
GOLD DIVISION

Forfeit – Team Kellz

The boys from Team Kellz went out last night and players from Run N Gun were pissed.

“We went clubbin’ last night, woke up early, and they forfeit,” said a player from Run N Gun.

“I went out last night too, got 3 hours, and woke up early,” said the League Commissioner, Hanz Jimenez.

A forfeit bond is being discussed for next season and teams won’t be too happy.

“Would you rather have a game or show up to a game and have some team forfeit because they can’t wake up,” said Jimenez. “We’ll see what happens when we start having forfeit bonds next season.”

BLSU vs. Dynasty
GOLD DIVISION

Forfeit – Dynasty

BLSU showed up and knowing they won’t have a full roster come Playoff time, BLSU made it clear they would rather play in LeBronze Division oppose to qualifying for the Playoffs.
